Valerio Cozzani is Professor of Chemical Engineering at University of Bologna, Italy, where he leads the Laboratory of Industrial Safety and Environmental Sustainability.
He has about 25 years of research experience in the fields of process safety and sustainable design of innovative chemical processes in the energy sector, mainly addressing thermal treatments for the energy valorization of biomass and wastes, flue gas treatment, advanced risk and sustainability assessment of conventional fuel and energy vectors production and supply chains.
Prof. Cozzani chairs the Energy Section of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), is member of the EFCE working party on Loss Prevention and chairs the Technical Committee on Chemical and Process Industry of the European Safety and Reliability Association.
He serves as Associate Editor for Safety Science, Section Editor of Processes (MDPI), and is member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Hazardous Materials and for the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industry. He is councilor of the Italian Association of Chemical Engineering and chairs the Italian Committee for Safety and Reliability in the Process Industry.
