Travel & Venue

Travel to Stavanger

Travel to Stavanger by boat, train or plane. Sola airport is just 15 minutes drive from our conference venue, and about 20 minutes from the city center of Stavanger!

Travel Awards

We are happy to announce five Travel Awards each having a value of 500 euros (corresponding to the conference fee) for the ESREL-SRA-E 2025 conference.

By offering Travel Awards, we aim to contribute to removing financial barriers for promising researchers and professionals, especially PhDs and early career researchers and professionals, facilitating their access to international knowledge exchange and networking opportunities.

To be eligible for the award you need to be a presenter at the conference and work in Europe.

Deadline for applications is 15th of January 2025. Please send your application to [email protected] . The application should address your motivation for attending the conference and relevant budget issues.

The applications will be evaluated by the Travel Awards committee. The awardees will be informed by 15th February 2025.

Only winners of the awards will be informed. Names of applicants and winners will not be published.

Public Transport

For bus timetables, tickets and different modes of public transport, you can download the Kolumbus ticket app and Kolumbus realtime bus tracker app. If you are taking a bus from Stavanger city center, route X60, route 6, and route 7 bring you to UiS campus Ullandhaug. All of these buses leave from the main sentral station area, around Breiavatnet lake. Find the location of the bus stop here:

If you are feeling adventurous, you can hire a city bike and cycle up to UiS. There are also two companies that provide el-scooters across the city, called Ryde og Voi who each have their own apps for booking. Campus Ullandhaug is approximately 6km from the city center, which may take around half an hour to cycle, past Mosvatnet lake and up the hill towards Ullandhaug tower. Buses or taxis can take between 15-25 minutes depending on traffic and routes.

Which ever way you decide to get here, be sure to take in the spectacular views from the top of the hill, where is is possible to see 360 degrees around the region and far out to sea and the Ryfylke archepelago beyond. Campus Ullandhaug is situated just beneath Ullandhaug tower which can be seen for miles around, next to an iron age farm and not far from the famous three swords monument at Hafrsfjord to the west.
