Francesco Di Maio received the M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering in 2006 from Politecnico di Milano and a Double EU-China PhD in Nuclear Engineering in 2010 from Politecnico di Milano and Tsinghua University. He is Full Professor in Nuclear Power Plants at Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
His research aims at studying, developing and applying efficient artificial intelligence methods and data mining techniques for addressing a number of open issues relevant for risk and resilience analysis of complex safety-critical systems and infrastructures. He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He has been Associate Editor of the International Journal of Performability Engineering (2011-2015). Since 2018, he is Associate Editor of the Journal of Risk and Reliability. He has been functioning as Technical Programme Chair of the ESREL2020PSAM15 Conference, Venice (Italy) in 2020. He is Co-Chair of the Technical Commitee on Nuclear Industry of the European Safety and Reliability Association.
