Rui Gaspar

Rui Gaspar has a PhD in Psychology, specialization in Social Psychology from the University of Lisbon. He is an Associate Professor at Lusófona University and Principal Investigator at the HEI-Lab: Digital Human-Environment Interaction Lab. He is currently member of the World Health Organization (WHO European Region) – Technical Advisory Group on Risk Communication, Community Engagement and Infodemic Management (RCCE-IM), Councillor of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA), technical consultant in Behavioural Sciences and Health Literacy at the Portuguese Directorate-General for Health, and scientific committee member at the Portuguese Food Safety & Economic Authority. He is past-President of the Society for Risk Analysis – Europe and was member of the Behavioural Sciences Task Force to fight COVID-19, nominated by the Portuguese government. He is former Associate Editor of the scientific journal Human Behaviour & Emerging Technologies and currently editorial board member of the Journal of Risk Research. His research focuses on: Emerging Risks Perception, Risk Communication & Crisis Communication; Community Engagement; Information & Communication Technologies use in crisis and social emergencies, with a particular focus on social media for social sensing.
