Ragnar Lofstedt PhD is a Professor of Risk Management at King’s College London, a position that he has held since 2002. Prior to that he held various appointments at the University of Surrey and was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis 1999-2000. He has primarily worked in the areas of risk communication and risk management where his main interest has been to promote evidence based and risk informed policy making in Europe with a focus on the European Commission and its various Agencies and a number of other member states most notably the Netherlands. He is the author/co-author of many books and more than 100 peer reviewed articles and has given lectures on risk related topics throughout Europe and North America. He is editor in Chief of the Journal of Risk Research, a journal which he founded in 1998, and he served as the President of the Society for Risk Analysis in 2022. He received his MA and PhD from Clark University and his BA from UCLA.
